MENS BOWLS NEWS 16/02/2025
We were fortunate enough to witness a great Final of the Club Pairs on Sunday. An entertaining match between Peter King and Joe Pizzutti versing Glenn Smallwood and Mick Tarbert. Mick and Glenn raced to a 16-2 lead before Peter and Joe staged a come back to take the score to 20-19 to Joe’s team. On the last end Mick’s team were leading 24-20 where Joe and Peter scored a 3, falling just shy of a victory and one shot behind 24-23 earning Mick and Glenn the 2024-2025 Club Pairs Championship Title. Congratulations to both teams on what was a great Final.
Our Grade 3 Side could only manage a 1 rink win against the strong Kootingal Side leaving Kooty a 61-47 win on the Master Board and a 9-1 result.
In Grade 4 South Green played South Gold in a Club Darby. With South Green winning on two rinks. However Carl Schroeder’s team win margin on the 3rd rink was enough to surmount the deficit from Green allowing South Gold to take the Master Board score, giving them an 8-2 victory.
South’s Grade 6 Side played Tamworth City and took 2 rink wins and kept the third rink to an 8 shot loss resulting in a Master Board win of 62-53 giving them a 9-1 victory and a great first round win.
South Bowlo’s Grade 7 Battled against West Tamworth and had a similar result as the 6’s taking 2 rink wins and keeping the lost rink deficit to 8 shots to take their 1st round win with a 59-44 victory and a 9-1 result.

Practice times for the Pennant teams will now be organised by your Manager and Skips. It is imperative that you make these practice sessions. Any questions need to be directed to them.
Open Gender Pennants
Open Gender Pennants continues this Saturday. Please check the Team App or the Men’s Noticeboard to see if and when you are playing.
General Meeting
PLEASE NOTE: The start time for the next General Meeting has been changed from 9.30am on Sunday 23rd of February to 4pm. This is due to the quarterfinals of the Mixed 4’s being scheduled for the morning on the same date.
Ladies Club Championships
Club Selected Pairs
Nominations are open for the Club Selected Pairs. Entries close Sunday 2nd of March with play to begin Sunday 23rd of March. Some games set down for Saturday 5th of April may need to be rescheduled due to some of our members being involved in the State Playoffs in Ballina at the same time. This will take precedence over our club games. Format will be 3 bowl pairs, 21 ends.
100 Club Roster
Volunteers are needed to help with the 100 Club on the 1st, 4th and 5th (if applicable) Friday of the month. A sheet is on the noticeboard for names.
Dates To Remember:
Tamworth City Ladies Friendship Day will be held on Thursday 6th of March. All information is on the noticeboard. Names by Tuesday 25th of February.
Entries for the State Carnival close Wednesday 26th of February with play being held in the Manning Great Lakes Region from Monday 5th to Friday 9th of May.
Cath’s South Tamworth Women’s President’s Day will be held on Thursday 20th of March. All information is on the noticeboard. Names by Saturday 8th of March due to Pennant Playoffs.
State Pennant Playoffs Div 1 Figtree and Div 3 Woonona Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13th of March.
The McCarthy/Fowler Triples will be held on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of March. Details are on the Men’s Noticeboard.
