MENS BOWLS NEWS 17/05/2026

A fantastic weekend for South Tamworth Bowling Club, with both our Grade 6 and Grade 7 Open Pennant teams producing outstanding results in the regional finals.

Our Grade 6 side has secured a place in the State Finals at Ballina after a terrific campaign built on two convincing performances in their section to claim the Regional Title. Meanwhile, our Grade 7 team also made a strong impressive run in their section to be undefeated and will continue their finals journey on home greens, with upcoming matches to be played at either South Tamworth or West Tamworth ahead of the State Finals in August.

Congratulations to all players and our great South Bowlo supporters, involved in these fantastic achievements. A special mention must also go to our selectors for their hard work and commitment throughout the season — a great job in building two highly competitive and successful teams.

Our Division 3 and 4 Men’s Sides will be selected late next week and if players can call Jeff Holloway if they are unavailable for play on the 30th and 31st of May. Venues to be determined.

South Tamworth Bowling Club enjoyed a wonderful day of competition on Thursday in the Autumn Pairs Carnival, with 24 teams taking to the greens in perfect autumn conditions to compete for $2,000 in prizemoney.

Players were treated to fast, true-running greens, leading to some excellent bowling across the day. South Tamworth pair Des Cross and Grant Hall emerged as deserved winners, finishing unbeaten with three wins and an outstanding +31 margin.

Second place went to Drew Nichols and Brett Goodchild, while Doug and Sherilee Stewart claimed third place on countback. South Tamworth’s Ingrid Harriott and Greg Harris finished fourth, with Ron Barnett and Dennis Silcock rounding out the top five.

The club extends its thanks to greenkeepers Mick Woods and Blayne Cook for presenting the greens in superb condition, along with the bar and kitchen staff for their hard work in keeping players and visitors well looked after throughout the carnival.
