BOWLS NEWS 17/08/2026

South Tamworth Bowling Club is proud to have two of our seasoned State bowlers, Chris Myers and Carol White, representing New South Wales in the Senior Women’s Test Series against Victoria at Deer Park Bowling Club. The three-Test series begins Monday 17 August, with Tests One and Two at 9:00AM and 1:30PM, before the final Test on Tuesday at 9:00AM.

Chris and Carol’s selection comes on the back of an outstanding year of lawn bowls achievements. Carol will play third, with Chris skipping their rink. The pair are certainly no strangers to representative bowls and bring plenty of State experience into the series.

Following strong performances in previous Australian Senior Sides campaigns, they will be well prepared for the challenge against Victoria and the Senior Sides Championships in October. Congratulations Carol and Chris — everyone at South Bowlo wishes you both and the NSW Senior Women’s Side every success.

Following our recent success at the Men’s and Women’s State Pennant Finals, South Tamworth’s State campaign continues this week. Our Grade 6 Open Pennant side will head to Lennox Head to compete in the State Finals, commencing Friday, while our Grade 7 Open Pennant side will be in State Finals action at West Tamworth. It is another great achievement to have two more South Tamworth sides competing on the State stage, and we wish all players the very best for the week ahead.

Linda O’Reilly and Sherilee Stewart also competed at the Australian Indoor Championships at Club Tweed Last week. Sherilee opened with a strong win over Mei Wan Lam, a 2024 NSW Champion of Champions Quarter-Finalist, before being beaten in Round 2 by eventual champion and Australian Jackaroo Kelsey Cottrell. Linda drew Australian Jackaroo Brianna Smith in Round 1 and was beaten by one of the nation’s leading players. A tough national field and a great experience for both Southies.

Our Thunderbolts Junior Bowls Academy maintained its momentum in Week 4, with 12 juniors attending. The group has improved rapidly over the past four weeks and this week we worked through five skill stations building on the foundations developed over the first three weeks.
